When Is It Too Late To Plant Marijuana Outdoors.

When Can You Grow Marijuana Outdoors

It will soon be the middle of June, when is too late to plant Cannabis and Marijuana seeds outdoors?

We will soon be at the Summer equinox, after which, the daylight hours will slowly begin to decrease, introducing the onset of flowering for Cannabis and Marijuana plants. Many outdoor growers across the USA will have planted their seeds weeks ago, and by now the plants are into their vegetative stage, rapidly developing new leaves and branches, taking advantage of the long hours of daily sunlight.

But what if you haven’t germinated your seeds yet? Perhaps you’re still deciding whether to buy Marijuana seeds online and grow your own plants this year and you feel the opportunity has passed you by. When is it too late to plant Marijuana outdoors? Well, you may be surprised to know that even into the middle of Summer it’s not too late, if you buy the right Cannabis seeds and Marijuana strains.

Is It Too Late To Plant Marijuana Outdoors In June.

For many commercial and ‘cash-crop’ growers, June is the beginning of the plant’s primary vegetative phase, when the plants grow quickly, rapidly developing new leaves and branches. Cannabis and Marijuana plants cultivated outdoors during this period often grow very tall and large, generating incredible per-plant harvests. However, not all outdoor Marijuana growers wish to grow such large plants, preferring to cultivate smaller, more discreet harvests that are easier to camouflage and disguise.

Feminized Marijuana seeds are always the best choice, guaranteeing that each and every seed you purchase and germinate, produces a pure female plant. All feminized seeds begin to flower once the daylight hours are reduce to approximately 12 hours per day. Many indoor growers set their lights to a standard 12/12 lights on – lights off regime to give their plants the maximum number of light hours for growth, and darkness hours for flowering.

While indoor growers can allow their plants sufficient time for the plants to develop before changing the light hours and beginning the flowering phase, outdoor growers are subject to nature, and the natural decrease in daylight hours after the Summer Equinox has passed on Saturday June 20th. Once the hours of darkness per night increase to balance the daylight hours, outdoor cannabis and Marijuana plants will begin to flower, regardless of the length of time they have been growing outdoors.

Planting Marijuana seeds  outside during June, will result in good-sized plants with strong branches and multiple budding sites. Large harvests of good quality Marijuana buds can still be easily achieved, although the plants won’t grow as tall or bushy as though planted in late Spring.

Although all outdoor Marijuana plants begin to flower simultaneously over a couple of weeks, flowering times between strains do vary quite substantially, with many Indica dominate strains maturing several weeks faster than those strains containing a higher percentage of Sativa dominate genes.

Is It Too Late To Plant Marijuana Outdoors In July

As July begins the temperatures are increasing and Summer is well under-way. The daylight hours are beginning to decrease however, reducing at a rate of approximately 3 minutes per day. This may not seem a lot, and is barely noticeable at the time, but come the end of July, the daylight hours will have reduced by around 2 hours since the June 20th Summer solstice.

Traditional Marijuana seeds planted outdoors during the very start of the month will have a much shorter time to grow before the onset of flowering, those planted towards the end off the month will yield significantly reduced harvests. Most outdoor Marijuana growers know that if the plants aren’t growing by July, it’s a little too late to produce a worthwhile harvest, as the plants will not have enough have time to develop strong branches and prominent flowering sites to produce the buds.

There is a solution however, with July being a perfect time to plant Autoflowering Marijuana seeds outdoors. Completely feminized and guaranteed female, autoflowering seeds simultaneously grow and flower, regardless of the number of daylight hours they receive. Their smaller, squat shape and hardy characteristics make them an ideal choice for both new and experienced outdoor Cannabis growers alike.

By combining the vegetative and flowering stages, autoflowering seeds mature far quicker than traditional seeds, requiring approximately 9 weeks from sprouting to fully grow, flower and mature ready to harvest. Yields are reduced to around 5 oz of high quality buds per plant, given good growing conditions, with strains such as Girl Scout Cookies Autoflowering seeds able to produce good quality harvests almost all year round, albeit with reduced yields during the darker, Winter months.

It’s never too late to plant Autoflowering Cannabis seeds, although yields are reduced the later you plant them. July is a great month to plant autoflowering strains outdoors, allowing them plenty of hours of strong sunlight during the Summer months to grow, flower and fully mature.
